About Tropicool 3
Tropicool 3 is the third entry in ELK Studios' frozen series, released on 23 April 2024. The studio's official game data sheet lists a 94.0% RTP, volatility rated 8 out of 10, a hit frequency of 28.0% and a ceiling of 25,000x the bet.
One correction first, because plenty of listings get this wrong: this is not a cluster game. The six-column, six-row grid pays through 46,656 ways to win, a figure published on the ELK data sheet and confirmed by SlotCatalog. 46,656 is exactly 6 to the power of 6: one symbol counted per column, six possibilities each time. Wins read left to right across adjacent columns, not as blobs of touching symbols.
Above the main grid sits the COOL Reel, a three-level reel that holds no paying symbols at all. It stores only feature symbols: wilds, locked wilds, row swaps, multipliers and mystery symbols. Every winning combination drops the first level of the COOL Reel down into the grid.
The engine is an avalanche. Symbols involved in a win explode, the gaps refill from above, and part of what falls comes from the COOL Reel. As long as new combinations keep forming, the cycle continues. A spin is therefore not a single event but a chain, and the length of that chain decides what the spin is worth.
Elmo's Revenge is the pivot in the base game. When the Elmo symbol reaches the leftmost column, it triggers a full drop of the entire COOL Reel — every wild, multiplier and mystery symbol stacked above the grid arrives at once. It is the only mechanic outside the bonus that can turn an ordinary spin into a large one.
Three or more bonus symbols open the Bonus Game, where the global multiplier is persistent: it does not reset between drops, it accumulates. Three bonus symbols alongside the Elmo symbol trigger the Super Bonus Game, in which Elmo is guaranteed in the main grid and stays sticky between free drops. The gap between the two rounds is structural, not cosmetic.
The RTP is the real story. 94.0% means €6.00 of house margin per €100 wagered across a very large number of spins. The ELK catalogue held in the BetsRank database, 33 games, shows a clear generational drift: Wild Toro sits at 96.4%, Hong Kong Tower, Lake's Five, Sam on the Beach and Joker Gems at 96.3%, while Tropicool 2, 3, 4 and 5, Cygnus 2 through 6 and Avalon Gold all sit at 94%. Over 1,000 spins at €1, the gap between 96.3% and 94.0% separates €37 of expected loss from €60.
Bets run from €0.20 to €100. That 25,000x is worth €5,000 at the minimum stake, €25,000 at €1 and €2,500,000 at €100 — which matches exactly the €2,500,000 maximum exposure ELK publishes. X-iter, the studio's own buy system, offers five entries: Bonus Hunt at 3x, Locked Wilds at 25x, Elmo's Revenge at 50x, Bonus Game at 100x and Super Bonus Game at 500x the bet. At €0.20, the Super Bonus therefore costs €100. These purchases are banned in the United Kingdom.
