A 2,328x ceiling, no bonus buy, none of the x-mechanics: this is the Nolimit City game furthest from the studio’s reputation, and also one of its steadiest.

    BetsRank Verdict

Hands-on testing by Alexandre Dubois — bonus tested, multiple sessions

Thor: Hammer Time contradicts nearly everything you expect from Nolimit City. A 2,328x ceiling, from the studio that later shipped Tombstone Slaughter at 500,000x: across the 136 Nolimit titles in the BetsRank database, this one ranks 125th on max win, well below the house median of 20,000x. Worth knowing before you sit down, because the rest follows the same logic. No bonus buy — Thor is one of 18 Nolimit games in our database that offer none. No xWays, no xNudge, no xSplit, no xBomb: the studio's own game page lists five features, all of them conventional. August 2019 shows in every spin. What rescues the game is frequency. Nolimit City publishes a 33.35% hit rate, roughly one paid spin in three, and two random modifiers can land on any rotation with no trigger condition attached. You rarely sit dry for long, which is close to an anomaly at this developer. The bonus is another matter: one spin in 155, per AboutSlots. This is a session game, not a jackpot hunt. Anyone arriving here looking for the Nolimit title that blows the counters off has walked through the wrong door, and the ceiling says so without hedging.

    Strengths

    • +One paid spin in three, a rare hit rate for this studio
    • +Two random modifiers live in the base game, with no trigger condition
    • +No bonus buy, so it stays available in markets that ban the option
    • +Wide stake range, from €0.20 to €100
    • +Thor’s awards stack on each other during Asgard Spins

    To consider

    • 2,328x ceiling against a 20,000x median across Nolimit City
    • None of the x-mechanics the studio built its name on
    • 96.03% RTP, below the 96.07% house median
    • One bonus every 155 spins according to AboutSlots
    • Nolimit City does not publish the Asgard Spins spin count

    About Thor: Hammer Time

Thor: Hammer Time launched on 1 August 2019, and that date explains almost everything. At that point Nolimit City had not yet registered the mechanics that became its signature. In the BetsRank database, the studio's first title carrying xNudge in its name is Deadwood xNudge, dated June 2020; the first xWays is San Quentin xWays, January 2021; the first xBomb, Fire in the Hole xBomb, March 2021. Thor uses none of them.

The vocabulary is worth restating, since it is exactly what players come to this developer for. xNudge slides a wild up or down until it fills its reel, adding +1 to its multiplier for every step it travels. xWays turns one symbol into a stack of identical symbols, raising the number of ways to win on otherwise fixed reels. xSplit slices every symbol in its row or reel in two, doubling their value; combined with xWays, a symbol already doubled becomes four. Enhancer cells unlock one consecutive win at a time to reveal one of those symbols. None of this exists in Thor.

Here is what the game offers instead, in the wording of the official page. Rune Raze triggers randomly on any spin: every rune on the grid turns into one specific rune. Hammer Time, also random, converts the four high-paying symbols — Ring, Goblet, Axe and Helmet — into Thor's Hammer, the top symbol on the paytable. Scatter Energy Collect fires on two or more scatters: they nudge down one step and respin all reels, repeating for as long as they stay visible. Collecting energy from three scatters opens Asgard Spins. Finally, Thor's Lightning Bonus triggers on its dedicated symbol on reel 5: Thor awards a multiplier, random sticky wilds, or full sticky wild reels, then nudges down and grants a respin.

So the nudge is present, but applied to scatters and to the Thor symbol, never to a multiplier wild. That is the substantive difference from the titles that carry the xNudge branding.

Nolimit City does not publish how long Asgard Spins runs. AskGamblers and Stop and Step both state 10 spins, with each extra scatter adding 2 more. During the round the Thor symbol lands more often on reel 5 and its awards stack on top of each other: that is where 2,328x gets built, and nowhere else.

Now the numbers. RTP is 96.03%, meaning that on €100 wagered the house theoretically keeps €3.97 — below the 96.07% median calculated across the 136 Nolimit titles in our database, though by a margin with no practical consequence. The published hit frequency is 33.35%, and AboutSlots puts bonus entry at one spin in 155: at €0.20 that is roughly €31 wagered before you get in; at €1, roughly €155.

The grid is a 5x3 with 20 fixed paylines and stakes run from €0.20 to €100. The 2,328x ceiling is therefore worth €465.60 at minimum stake, €2,328 at €1, and €232,800 at the maximum. There is no bonus buy, which mechanically removes Thor from the feature-buy debate and keeps it playable in markets that ban the option. Nolimit City rates volatility as high and AboutSlots scores it 8 out of 10; SlotCatalog calls it medium, contradicting both.

    Key mechanics

    • 5x3 grid with 20 fixed paylines
    • Rune Raze: every rune on the grid turns into one specific rune
    • Hammer Time: Ring, Goblet, Axe and Helmet all become Thor’s Hammer
    • Scatter Energy Collect: scatters nudge down one step and respin the reels
    • Asgard Spins opened by energy from three scatters, 10 spins per AskGamblers
    • Thor’s Lightning Bonus on reel 5: multiplier, sticky wilds or full wild reels
    • 96.03% RTP, meaning €3.97 of theoretical house margin per €100 wagered
    • 33.35% hit frequency published by Nolimit City
    • 2,328x ceiling, ranked 125th of the 136 Nolimit titles in the BetsRank database
    • No bonus buy and none of the xWays, xNudge, xSplit or xBomb mechanics

    Thor: Hammer Time FAQ

What is the maximum win on Thor: Hammer Time?

2,328x the stake, the figure Nolimit City publishes on its own game page.

    That is €465. 60 at the €0. 20 minimum, €2,328 at a €1 stake, and €232,800 at the €100 maximum.

Why is 2,328x so low for a Nolimit City game?

Because the game dates from August 2019, before the mechanics that made the studio’s name.

Across the 136 Nolimit titles in the BetsRank database, Thor ranks 125th: the house median sits at 20,000x and Tombstone Slaughter tops out at 500,000x.

Does Thor use xWays, xNudge or xSplit?

    None of the three.

The official page lists only Rune Raze, Hammer Time, Scatter Energy Collect, Thor’s Lightning Bonus and Asgard Spins. Nudging does exist in the game, but it applies to scatters and the Thor symbol, never to a multiplier wild.

What is the RTP and what does it actually cost?

    96.

03% per Nolimit City, which means €3. 97 kept by the house for every €100 wagered over a very large number of spins. The median across the 136 Nolimit titles in our database is 96. 07%, so the gap is negligible.

    How are Asgard Spins triggered?

You need to collect energy from three scatters through Scatter Energy Collect.

Two scatters are enough to start the mechanic: they nudge down one step and respin the reels for as long as they remain visible, in the hope of catching a third.

How many free spins do Asgard Spins award?

Nolimit City does not publish it.

AskGamblers and Stop and Step both state 10 spins, with 2 extra spins per additional scatter. We report that figure attributed to them, since no primary source is available.

What does Thor’s Lightning Bonus award?

Its dedicated symbol on reel 5 grants one of Thor’s three favours: a multiplier, randomly placed sticky wilds, or full sticky wild reels.

Thor then nudges down one step and grants a respin.

Can you buy the bonus on Thor: Hammer Time?

    No.

Thor is one of 18 Nolimit City titles in the BetsRank database with no feature buy. That is a constraint on pace, but it is also what keeps the game available in markets where feature buys are banned, the UK first among them.

    How often do you win?

    Nolimit City publishes a 33.

35% hit frequency, roughly one spin in three. AboutSlots puts bonus entry at one spin in 155: at €0. 20 that means around €31 wagered before you get in; at €1, around €155.

    Is the volatility genuinely high?

Nolimit City rates it high and AboutSlots scores it 8 out of 10.

SlotCatalog calls it medium, contradicting both. We keep high, in line with the studio’s own source.

Do the sources agree on the specifications?

    Not entirely.

SlotCatalog lists a 15,000x maximum win while converting that ceiling to £232,800 at maximum stake — which is exactly 2,328x, the official figure. Its release date of 18 July 2019 also differs from the 1 August the studio published.
