About Gold Vein
Gold Vein is the mining game from Booming Games, released in June 2019. The Maltese studio sets up a grid of five reels across three rows and twenty fixed paylines that cannot be adjusted, in a setting of underground galleries populated by gnome miners, picks and lamps. The offer does not rest on the grid itself but on a device placed alongside it: the Bonus Reel.
The technical sheets relayed by reference catalogues give an RTP of 95.17%, a substantial share of it attributed to the free-spins phase, a high volatility and a maximum win of 1,000 times the stake. The recorded hit frequency sits around 37.12%, and that of the free spins at roughly one spin in a hundred. The combination is unusual: frequent but very uneven wins, with part of the return concentrated outside the base game.
The Bonus Reel is the signature mechanic. It triggers at random and sends carts loaded with extra symbols down into the pit, adding them to the result of the spin in progress. Those carts can deliver wilds, including multiplier wilds, or complete a combination that was already forming. The device turns an ordinary spin into a high-potential one without going through a separate bonus phase.
The free spins, triggered by three or more scatter symbols, work a variant of the same idea. During the phase, any wild obtained locks in position and stays there for the remainder of the run. The board therefore fills up progressively, and the last spins of the sequence are automatically the richest. That accumulation is what explains the large share of RTP attributed to this phase.
The symbol table also carries one peculiarity: the Double Gold Nugget, a doubled nugget that counts as two symbols on a line. It makes a six-symbol combination possible on a grid only five reels wide, unlocking a payment tier otherwise out of reach.
Read as a whole, the design puts almost everything into modifiers rather than into the paytable. Twenty fixed lines on a 5x3 grid are a deliberately ordinary base, and the studio treats that base as scaffolding for the Bonus Reel, the locking wilds and the doubled nugget to act on. It is a coherent choice, but it does mean the value of a session depends far more on how often the modifiers fire than on the symbols the reels stop on.
Reference catalogues record a betting range commonly offered from 0.20 to 400 euros per spin. The game ships in HTML5 and is playable on desktop and mobile with nothing to install. It belongs to the generation of titles through which Booming Games began moving away from the pure fruit machine to explore modifier-driven mechanics, a direction the studio later pushed further with its Megaways engines and Hold and Win formats. It should be noted that the RTP and maximum win figures diverge between the catalogues consulted, some stating 95.31% and a higher ceiling. That gap suggests several versions coexist depending on the market or the operator, and makes reading the in-game help table all the more worthwhile before you place a bet.
