    BetsRank Verdict

Hands-on testing by Alexandre Dubois — bonus tested, multiple sessions

Dead Riders Trail runs the variable-ways idea backwards: you don't start with 46,656 combinations, you earn them. The 6x6 grid opens choked with stone blocks, and every winning symbol that touches one blows it off the board. While blocks remain, the grid pays badly. Clearing the whole thing in the base game opens the Feature Wheel, and that is where the game is decided: four outcomes only, two of them very short free spin runs (4 or 7 spins) and two of them Bonus Trail versions. The Trail is the real reason to load this game. Forty-six spaces, a three-move counter, fuel cans that refill it, trucks that inflate tile values — it's a board game bolted onto a slot, and it's considerably richer than the reel half. The 96.20% RTP is fine without being generous, and it climbs to 96.50% the moment you buy. The 50,000x ceiling is real, but it comes almost exclusively out of the Trail. My main complaint: the Wheel can hand back 4 free spins after a 50x buy, an objectively poor result the game doesn't even try to disguise.

    Strengths

    • +The 46,656 ways are earned, not handed over: the grid opens up during the spin
    • +Deeply built Bonus Trail with silver trucks, gold trucks and +3x lap bonuses
    • +RTP lifted to 96.50% on all three feature buys
    • +50,000x ceiling, near the top of the Relax catalogue in the BetsRank database
    • +Stakes from 0.20 to 20, accessible without capping bigger players too hard

    To consider

    • The Wheel can return just 4 free spins, including after a 50x buy
    • 96.20% in the base game, below several bigger titles from the same studio
    • The base game pays poorly until the stone blocks are cleared
    • Super Bonus Trail at 250x: one extra gold truck is the only documented difference
    • Feature buys are banned in the United Kingdom

    About Dead Riders Trail

Dead Riders Trail is an in-house Relax Gaming title, released on 24 August 2022 according to SlotCatalog. The studio's own page does not publish that date: it lists only a Romanian market launch on 14 September 2022. The BetsRank database carried March 2023, a wrong value we have corrected.

The grid runs 6 reels by 6 rows, and it starts dirty. Stone blocks occupy positions and cut down the number of combinations actually available. A win forms with at least 3 matching symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel. Any block touched by a winning symbol is destroyed, freeing the position and increasing the ways count for the rest of that same spin. The theoretical ceiling is 46,656 ways, which is 6 to the power of 6: six possible symbols on each of the six reels, grid fully cleared. That figure is a reward, not a starting state. The wild is called Route 666 and substitutes for all standard pay symbols.

Clearing every block during a base game spin triggers the Feature Wheel, which offers only four outcomes: 4 free spins, 7 free spins, Bonus Trail or Super Bonus Trail. The spread is blunt — two short exits, two serious ones.

During free spins, a random number of bombs is attached to the stone blocks. A bomb that goes off clears the entire reel, and every symbol on that reel becomes identical. Clearing the whole grid again adds 3 spins. Players can also gamble their 4 or 7 spins for a shot at the Bonus Trail.

The Bonus Trail is the best-built part of the game. The board holds 46 spaces. You start with a 0x multiplier and three moves in reserve, and each turn advances 1 to 6 spaces. Landing on a fuel can resets the counter to three, which can make the feature run a very long time. Silver trucks deliver eight possible results: a direct 25x to 50x cash win, a Sniper that doubles the value of 3 to 6 tiles, a Payer that adds 3x to 10x to every tile, a Two-Knife that adds 50x to 200x to two to four tiles, a Refuel worth 2 to 4 cans, a Shoot Back that copies the running total onto 1 to 3 tiles, a Collect of the 4 nearest tiles, and a Collect All. Gold trucks turn the Sniper, Payer or Two-Knife into a persistent effect applied on every move, and guarantee a Collect All. Completing a full lap adds 3x to every normal tile plus one fuel can. Tile value is capped at 1,000x the stake. The Super Bonus Trail changes exactly one thing: the silver truck closest to the starting point becomes a gold truck.

Now the numbers. Base game RTP is 96.20%, meaning the house keeps 3.80 for every 100 staked across a very large number of spins. The three buys — 50x for the Wheel, 90x for the Bonus Trail, 250x for the Super Bonus Trail — run at 96.50%, so 3.50 per 100. Buying is marginally cheaper here than spinning. The official Relax page also flags a German variant at 90.00%: RTP depends on the market, so check it inside the game. Stakes run from 0.20 to 20; the database claimed a 50 maximum, another value we corrected. Max win is 50,000x: 10,000 at 0.20, 50,000 at 1, and 1,000,000 at 20. Across the 36 Relax games listed at BetsRank, that puts it level with Money Train 2 and Iron Bank, behind Money Train 3 at 100,000x and Money Train 4 at 150,000x. Feature buys are banned in the United Kingdom.

    Dead Riders Trail FAQ

What is the RTP of Dead Riders Trail?

    96.

20% in the base game, meaning the house keeps 3. 80 per 100 staked across a very large number of spins. All three feature buys are set at 96. 50%, so 3. 50. The official Relax page also lists a German variant at 90. 00%.

Why doesn't the grid give 46,656 ways from the start?

Because stone blocks occupy positions and block combinations.

Every winning symbol that touches a block destroys it. The 46,656 ways, which is 6 to the power of 6, are only reached once the grid has been fully cleared.

How is the Feature Wheel triggered?

By clearing every stone block during a single base game spin.

The Wheel then draws one of four outcomes: 4 free spins, 7 free spins, Bonus Trail or Super Bonus Trail.

What are 4 free spins actually worth?

    Not much.

It is the worst outcome on the Wheel, and it remains possible after a 50x buy. The game even offers to gamble those spins for a shot at the Bonus Trail, which amounts to admitting how weak they are.

How do the free spin bombs work?

A random number of bombs is attached to the stone blocks.

When a bomb goes off it clears the entire reel, and every symbol on that reel becomes identical. Clearing the whole grid again adds 3 spins.

How is the Bonus Trail played?

On a 46-space board, starting with a 0x multiplier and three moves in reserve.

Each turn advances 1 to 6 spaces, and fuel cans reset the counter to three, which can stretch the feature out considerably.

What separates a silver truck from a gold truck?

The silver truck delivers one of eight one-off effects: a 25x to 50x win, Sniper, Payer, Two-Knife, Refuel, Shoot Back, Collect or Collect All.

The gold truck makes the Sniper, Payer or Two-Knife persistent and guarantees a Collect All.

What does completing a lap give you?

Finishing a lap adds 3x to every normal tile on the board, plus one fuel can.

Tile value stays capped at 1,000x the stake, which limits what any single tile can return at Collect time.

How much do the feature buys cost?

50x stake for the Wheel, 90x for the Bonus Trail, 250x for the Super Bonus Trail.

At 0. 20 that is 10, 18 and 50; at 20 it is 1,000, 1,800 and 5,000. These buys are banned in the United Kingdom.

Is the Super Bonus Trail worth 160x more?

Its only documented difference is that the silver truck closest to the start becomes a gold truck.

That is a frequency gain on the persistent effects, not a different feature. The price still jumps from 90x to 250x.

What is 50,000x worth in cash?

    10,000 at the 0.

20 minimum, 50,000 at 1, and 1,000,000 at the 20 maximum. That ceiling comes out of the Bonus Trail, not the base game, where symbol payouts top out around 1x per combination.
