Hellcatraz launched on May 5, 2020 and stands as one of the most innovative cluster-pays slots from Relax Gaming. A dark prison universe, a 6x6 cluster format, and a genuinely unique mechanic: countdown mystery symbols.

- Relax Gaming slot, May 2020, 6x6 cluster pays format. RTP 96.46% Mixed / 96.30% Lockdown / 96.88% with bonus buy.
- High volatility (super high in Lockdown mode), max win 51,840x, up to 46,656 ways.
- Cascading wins + countdown mystery symbols (1-5) + 2 modes, Mixed/Lockdown + Free Spins (collect 2,000 keys).
- Bonus buy at 200x the stake. Min bet €0.20.
Countdown mystery symbols — the innovation
A signature mechanic that's genuinely unique on the market:
- Symbols carrying numbers 1-5 land randomly
- Every winning cascade decrements the number by 1
- When it hits 0 → it reveals a random symbol on that position
- If a premium symbol is revealed → a potential massive new cascade follows
It's rare for a slot to offer this kind of "countdown" mechanic that turns anticipation into progressive dopamine.
2 modes: Mixed / Lockdown
| Mode | RTP | Volatility | Hit Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mixed | 96.46% | High | 23.22% |
| Lockdown | 96.30% | Super high | 19.92% |
Lockdown adds progressive multipliers but with rougher variance. Mixed offers classic high volatility with more regular hits.
Free Spins — collect 2,000 keys
A rare mechanic: Free Spins trigger by collecting 2,000 keys through cascades in the base game. Slow but rewarding. If you want a shortcut, there's the 200x bonus buy.
